The Virtual Dojang – ITF Taekwon-Do

by

Hello and welcome to The Virtual Dojang.itf tree The Virtual Dojang ITF Taekwon Do

We’ve started this site to contribute to the wonderful community that is ITF Taekwon-Do.

Actually one of the reasons this site was originally conceived is that it is really hard to find quality instructional information on the internet. There’s a lot of rubbish out there! And we wanted to provide a quality reference resource.

Many people hunt high and low on the internet looking for answers to basic questions about Taekwon-Do, looking for good quality Taekwon-Do patterns video, or even perhaps just trying to understand how to properly perform a punch.

The internet is a great source of information, and you can generally find out about anything you want to. But the biggest problem is knowing for sure whether the information you have found is accurate. There are many websites and YouTube videos of people performing patterns, but a majority of them do not follow the International Taekwon-Do Federations methods.

Have a look at this brief video to see what we mean! (Just ignore the web address given at the end.. that’s now turned into The Virtual Dojang!)

See what we mean? If you are looking for something as basic as how to do pattern Chon-Ji, you can be searching for some time to find the right video. And if you are a beginner, then it can actually be difficult to know whether what you are looking at is correct or not.

Initially the plan was to be the one-stop shop… providing everything you might need to know right here on the site. But actually there is a lot of really good information already on the web. But it’s scattered all over the place.

So right now this is going to become more of a “hub”, locating good quality information and bringing it into one place.

The sorts of things we’ll be looking out for are:

  • ITF Patterns
  • Basic techniques – forming a fist, punching, basic kicks
  • Pattern history (extended history)
  • Nutrition
  • Cross-training – improving vertical jump, developing explosive power
  • and more!

Also we intend to have a Training Secrets of Taekwon-Do course available really soon. Taking the training secrets that General Choi handed down to us, and adding our own interpretation based on over two decades of training in ITF Taekwon-Do.

And there’s a blog too! I’m not really sure what form that is going to take, but let’s just see where it takes us!
